Tips For Losing Weight

Every year there is some new diet that comes out claiming to help you lose weight fast! There's a good reason they come and go. These diets either straight up don't work or once you stop the diet you gain the weight back twice as fast and end up weighing more than when you started.I'm not here to tell you what to eat, i'm here to give you a few essential pieces of advice that will help you lose weight on any diet.

Portion Control

My mother used to tell me, "Everything is ok in moderation" and this is 100% true when it comes to foods. By simply cutting back on junk food that you would normally eat can make a huge difference in the long run. Instead of drinking 2 soda's a day, cut it down to one. Instead of getting a plate full of pizza, only get half a plate full. You don't need to stop enjoying the foods you currently eat, just don't be eating as much. It won't be easy but all it takes is for you to be aware of what you are eating. This brings me to my next tip.

Logging

I'm sure you can all relate to a Saturday night, relaxing at home, sitting on the couch, watching tv and enjoying a bag of chips or a bowl of ice cream. BOOM! Next thing you know you look down and you unknowingly ate the whole bag of chips or the whole carton of ice cream... shame ensues.

I swear, if there is one thing you need to remember to lose weight is to BE AWARE!

The number one tool I can recommend to increase awareness is logging what you eat. There are many free apps out there that will let you type in or scan products and instantly show you all the nutritional facts and keep daily and weekly logs for you. It'll help you realize that maybe you don't need that extra serving of dinner. Next thing you know you wont even be tempted for extra food because it'll almost disgust you to realize how bad that McChicken is for you or that Large Cola.

Losing weight isn't easy but it also doesn't need to be super hard. Results from this won't necessarily show overnight but wait a week or two and you'll start to notice it on the scale. As always, adding a few workouts over the week will not only help you lose weight but make you healthier overall.

Have a great start to Spring and I hope to see you the next time you come to Recover!
